news

news:

Morning star did get two orphans, a girl, 13 and boy, 7..had been 2 of 5 (world vision has agreed to take care of the older kids). they watched dad be killed by an arrow and mom be cut into pieces in their village.

today i tried to take my friend jackie to paradise lost (caves and ostrich rides!) but she informed me that she could be beheaded if she went there (not a good area for people from her tribe.) its just crazy.

more on jackie: i love her and she plays guitar and we wrote a song tonight i reallly think is something. she and i had a great day anyway at mamba village–saw crocs and ostriches and rode a camel. tried to go to ngong hills but it was far and we’d already walked MILES so we saw them from a distance and gave up and walked down to a looney toones matatu. we are already great friends and she is coming to ROCHESTER in May for 3 months!

YAY.

Dad: Miss your voice
Me: me too!
lol
I MISS MY VOICE A LOT.
Dad: is it still AWOL?
(MORE SLEEP!!) is key
g’nite
Me: yep
Dad: really sleep and voice they go together

lots happening with kids programs and ill have more news after tomorrows big day in embakasi. i should be on a matatu headed for downtown in the next 7-8 hrs..so thats not gonna be pretty.

i love having my own apt. i host people a lot. it’s quite tidy and i buy cookies and drinking chocolate for when people come so they all leave happy. im going to miss it. not as much as i miss my family–but ill miss the apt indeed.

for all who wanted to help kamau–thanks again..im still hearing stories about the poorest people in our church attempting to give what they can for him. And the graduate small group..lord knows they’re all broke! 😀

walking by kibera daily now and buying bread for people/praying is taking its toll. you’ve no idea how..vast it is and how poor it really is. i agree with missionaries and think its cool when they talk about self-started, self-sustaining programs for communities, but in kibera its literally impossible to grow things and i have no idea what they can start with. they dont have ANYTHING. ive been thinking about it a lot and decided you cant just start from nothing at all. they need something so they can get started..somewhere. anyway more thoughts later i suppose. Night!
