update.

From Goa to Mysore to Bangalore–India certainly hasnt ceased to amaze me.

I would sum up this week with the following lessons–some are funny and some are a bit deeper.

1.) Indian food does NOT get old–too hot to walk, too cheap and delicious not to eat— = 10 lb. weight gain i bet you.

2.)  Indian trains are not as romantic as they are sometimes anticipated to be.

3.)  I have my own idols that i sacrifice things to, but these are less obvious or physical. I return to give time and attention to things that dont deserve it all the time.

4.) Hindu people seem to go all out to give their gods beautiful things more than i do–i give time, and begrudgingly give my money, but i want to bring God the best — like they do with things like jasmine flowers and whatnot. tricky to explain this one but ask me about it.

5.)  It gets expensive to sacrifice things to idols. I think less people would be in poverty if people a.) killed rats and b.) stopped sacrificing money to gods and bought grains.

6.) I despise honking — loud honking gets so old–it’s ok when i’m far off or even if it’s loud and im trying to sleep (its ok!) but when im right there and theyre constantly honking at me…it’s up there on my list with back sweat and trying to open cd cases.

7.)  Camille is a tough cookie and godly person i admire. You should see her learning urdu and galavanting around.  It’ll be easier to ask God to help her now.

i learned a LOT of other things too…but ask me about it if you get a chance!  Tomorrow i depart for dubai–to see ankica!  I am excited.  So is Micah–cant wai to see the kid.

going to goa to get a dose of dosas?

I went to Goa (on the coast) over the weekend.  It was a spring breakish sorta fling with three girls–Camille, Becka and Laura–total blast.

We stayed at a weird hotel, but had ac!  and it was on the water–amazing.  People sold me lots of stuff i didnt need, (i always fall for the guilt trip and especially the kids selling stuff).

Lying there, reading, swimming, soaking in the 100 degree heat and eating pineapple made me thankful to be on God’s team.  Not that he treats us all this way 24/7, but it was a nice break from work.  Today i spent the day “couch surfing” to make a backup plan for our dubai journey on saturday.

It could get mighty pricy if Ankica (my dear friend who i cannot wait to see) is deported before we arrive.

Please pray for micah and i to be safe, smart and thrifty!  :).  I am going to smell funky when i get home–it’s all indian food, all the time!  i love india so far–so colorful and camille is so hospitable.  the week is filled with bollywood plans, mysore train excursions, wildlife, temples and indian mcdonalds.  But it’s hot. so hot it makes me want to cry.  :).  sorry rochesterians!

Prayer request

Hi guys.  Something so awful it hurts happened today.  Prayer request.

I have a lot to write but I’ll keep this posting short.

Today when i got my bag from the airport, my laptop (which had been buried inside in its case) was gone.

on it was:

over 10,000 photos of my trips around the planet.

8500 or so songs.

My own songs i wrote/recorded.

All my personal journals that i never posted on my website.

All my documents (writing samples) and school projects that could be useful.

Dozens of still-pertinent school documents and research records to put into my thesis–which remains unstarted besides the computer center document.

All my photos of the computer centers.

The sheet of all the dimensions — in a fancy time consuming table.

Movies hannah and i created.

The document about solar powered computer centers (90 pages).

One friend may be able to send me the latest copy of the computer center document (my baby for two months now)…but that’s if he’s not deleted it yet. The hardest thing for me is the photos and writing–old class stuff and my music.  And i have a LOT of work and no way to do it.

im a little heartbroken, thinking about what a nasty way it was for Kenya to say goodbye to me.  God has plans we do not know, as he always has.  Please pray for me–i’m disappointed and sad, to say the least, confused and disheartened a bit.

:(.  please pray for whoever took it to find the computerizedbible or something.

thanks for the prayers–ill be in india almost 2 weeks. is this what it takes for God to have me take a break finally? hoping not.  no one believes me anyways so no one wants to pray (april fools).  It’s sadly not a great prank.
