Becca’s a HOT SINGLE?

Caleb (MY BROTHER!) was perusing facebook the other day and came across an ad on the right side of his profile:

you kidding me?  then he told me he planned to write facebook “DEAR FACEBOOK.  MY SISTER IS NOT A HOT SINGLE.  I AM HER BROTHER! ETC.”

siigh.

i looked around about suing the people who snagged it for using my photo, but guys, when we sign up for FB, we sign EVERYTHING away that’s uploaded onto the website.  ahh.  scary, eh?

  1. Here’s the snippet from the Facebook Terms of Service that allows them to use your pics/vids and such (http://www.facebook.com/terms.php):

    # Sharing Your Content and Information

You own all of the content and information you post on Facebook, and you can control how we share your content through your privacy and application settings. In order for us to use certain types of content and provide you with Facebook, you agree to the following:

    1. For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos (“IP content”), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook (“IP License”). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account (except to the extent your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it).

My favorite is when I kept seeing photos of drunk girls and the headline “Single Christian Women.”

Yea, we basically sell our soul in terms of rights when we put stuff on facebook.

  3. I’m think soul-selling would be more of a “good faith” agreement, leaving it exempt from intellectual property laws. ;D
